I also always thought it would be based on the Disappearance novel. So, this isn't news to me. The Disappearance of Haruhi Suzumiya was always one of my favorite in the series, so i'm glad they picked it next.

Kazune is a Clone of his father Kazuto. He also inherited some of his memories (but not many).
Karin is a "reborn" version of Kazuto's wife, Suzuka. He cloned her (but didn't give her memories) to protect her.
Himeka is Kazuto and Suzuka's daughter. So, technically, she is Kazune and Karin's daughter. (Although in the second series they have a son as well)
Micchi lost his parents in a car crash. He also lost his eye. Kazuto made a new eye for him and raised him before cloning himself.

I liked the Dub Second Movie (not as much as the subbed, but...). If they ever redid the Dub of CCS, I would love it.
But for now, Original Japanese rules all. xD

Since Akito was so sick, it's possible her body didn't develop correctly.. aka: no chest.

I read something that was written by the owner of Tokyopop that said "..when the anime ends because it has caught upto where the manga story is and must wait until more of the manga is released.....like a continuation of the fruits basket anime."
So, yeah. Straight from a producer of english anime/manga themselves.
